Peptides pharmacology: development of the dosage form of the peptide non-narcotic analgesic (Skolkovo funding)

The express-method for detecting minimal peptides sequence preserving the central activity of the full-length molecule has been developed. Minimal sequences of calcitonins of different origin with a non-narcotic type of analgesic effect have been revealed, modifications obtained with patent purity and suitable for the development of OTC pain-relievers. The search for their possible targets for the development of the formulation and expanding the range of effect is being conducted. Minimal antigenic epitopes of sequence of human calcitonin are revealed, non-hybridoma methods of producing monovalent antibodies are developed, suitable in particular for the development of anti-metabolite vaccines on low molecular compounds.

Development of means of reducing congenital pathology and the study of mechanisms of embryonic (non-genetic) programming of some aberrant behaviors

Prevention of pregnancy complications: development of technology to reduce congenital pathology and the study of mechanisms of embryonic (non-genetic) programming of socially significant diseases

On the large number of clinical, clinical and laboratory material (more than 5,000 laboratory tests) it has been proved that Polyscias filicifolia extract effective in preventing a variety of pathological reactions in pregnant women and the fetus, caused by adverse environmental conditions, including:

  • has the property of reducing the risk of congenital abnormalities in children;
  • effective in preventing different pathological responses in pregnant women, including gestosis;
  • is included into the Guidelines for the prevention and treatment of miscarriage of Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology of D.O. Otta Russian Academy of Medical Sciences since 2009;
  • in combination with lipoic acid exerts a marked antiradical effect in pregnant women with diabetes, which indicates the perspective of its use for the prevention of many effects of diabetes associated with increased lipid peroxidation and the radical activity in this disease;
  • preserves insulin-synthesizing activity during immobilization stress in rats better than that ginseng extract;
  • contains oleanolic acid and its glycosides that are well known for their wide range of antidiabetic effects.

In laboratory animals models of induction of asymmetric anomalies of development are created, of alcohol products conversion and of certain industrial hazards, the possible association of asymmetrical malformations of development with congenital predisposition to alcohol consumption is investigated.

A complete process chain from the development of the cultures of higher plants, their cultivation, the release of active substances, to the finished forms of drugs is developed.

Biotransformation and novel compounds synthesis

The technology of industrial cultivation of suspension cell cultures of higher plants in bioreactors used in BioPharmos Group gives the unique opportunity of biotransformation. The cells cultivated in suspension can be used as multi-enzyme systems capable of a broad spectrum of pharmacologically active compounds biotransformations. Modification of synthetic and natural compounds of different spectrum by including them in the metabolism of plant cells in suspension cultures allows to obtain patentable derivatives of these compounds.
